Software Defect Prediction

Hongyu Zhang
Associate Professor
Tsinghua University

Abstract :

Software quality assurance is a resource and time-consuming task. In recent years, research on software defect prediction has drawn the attention of many researchers in the software engineering field. Various methods are developed to predict the defect-proneness of a module and defect counts before the defects are actually discovered. In this talk, I will briefly introduce the work on software defect prediction and its recent development. I will also introduce my work on the analysis and prediction of software defects, especially on the metrics-based defect prediction.

Hongyu Zhang received the PhD degree in computer science from the School of Computing, National University of Singapore in 2003. He is currently an associate professor in the School of Software, Tsinghua University, Beijing, China. Before joining Tsinghua University, He was a Lecturer at RMIT University, Australia; a research fellow at National University of Singapore; and an R&D engineer at IBM Singapore. His research is mainly in the area of software engineering, in particular, software metrics, software quality engineering, and software reuse. He has published more than 40 research papers in international journals and conferences. He also served as a PC member/invited reviewer for various international journals and conferences.
